Consultation has concluded
The Howdy Downtown! program is comprised of this and other projects focusing on Downtown Golden. Learn more about all of the Howdy Downtown projects and how you can share your input and be involved.
------------------------------------
Started in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the sidewalk seating permit system was expanded in 2021 by the City to include seasonal use of downtown parking lanes in the commercial district. The current permit system allows outdoor seating, sales and service in the parking lane from April 1 through October 31, subject to approval of an annual permit. City Council and staff conducted an annual review of the program and implement changes based on business and public input, such as programmatic aesthetic and safety improvements added to the spaces in 2021.
City staff is soliciting feedback for the annual program review and the 2023 permit application window. The survey focuses on the entire downtown Golden area along with the Miners Alley pilot program. The results will also be used to inform the 2023 permit season and future Howdy Downtown! projects such as the Miners Alley Activation Study.
Thank you to all participants in the seasonal outdoor business survey!
City Council Study Session: City staff will present proposed changes for the 2023 permit season at the February 14 City Council meeting. The meeting begins at 5pm (new time for study sessions) in Council Chambers, 911 10th Street.
Please contact the Planning Division (planning@cityofgolden.net or 303-384-8097) if you, a person you are assisting, or an organization needs additional help to engage with our planning process due to limited access to technology, a disability, or a language access need.
