The Golden History Park was a vacant lot until the City purchased it in the early 90's!
According to local historian Richard Gardner, "Within the [Golden History] park only Guy Hill School is a recognized historic landmark; the cabins, although eligible, have never been historically designated."

Clear Creek, once wider and free-roaming, was channeled to its current banks in the 1960's.
The idea for a path running along the banks of Clear Creek was only introduced in 1971.
The decision to build the Golden Community Center and fund many downtown updates came down to an eleven vote margin in 1991!

The Guy Hill School House now calls the Golden History Park home, but it was built in Golden Gate Canyon around 1876.
