Council is considering a non-exclusive use of right-of-way (ROW) agreement with Google Fiber during the Council Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Several surrounding communities have also approved similar agreements with Google.
The intent is for Google Fiber to build a high-speed fiber network in Golden to increase service, competition, and connection speeds in Golden. Previously, the City considered the prospect of building and operating a fiber network, but an estimate of over $40 million dollars to do so made that option less viable.
The City has been negotiating this right-of-way agreement for months and believes this version is the best version available from Google at this point in time.
If you have any comments on this agreement for Council to consider, please provide them below or email them to publiccomment@cityofgolden.net.
