The City of Golden is working on the 2025-2026 biennial budget process and would like your input to ensure that our priorities match up with community expectations.
A significant portion of the City’s budget is always allocated to ensure our existing infrastructure is maintained, the city remains safe, accessible and growth is managed. That spending is reflected on (among other things) public safety, community development, water services, street repair, snow plowing and park maintenance.
Additionally, the City has added a greater focus on quality of life initiatives and meeting the goals of the City’s Strategic Action Plan.

Would love to see an overhaul to the Heritage Rd/6th Ave intersection. Cars regularly travel well over 55MPH coming through that intersection. Long lights, bikers everywhere on the road, etc. some sort of bridge system like what we have off 19th would help a ton with traffic and more importantly safety.
More Street lights at North Columbine Street.
More roundabouts (Iowa & Washington), fewer traffic lights, sync traffic lights so that we aren't sitting at the lights at 10th, 12th, and 13th and traffic can flow through downtown.
Reduce water usage on city property, create a program to work with HOAs to reduce their water usage, their is hesitancy to change sprinkler systems with the new water regulations.
Build the G Line as close to Ford Street as possible with the upcoming Clayworks project.
Don't build noise walls, they are generally ineffective and ugly.
Missing from the list: Maintaining landscaping in public right-of-ways (beyond Washington Ave in downtown).
Most city residents do a great job at maintaining their private property with good landscaping that includes keeping planter beds weed free and mulched each season. The city does a poor job at maintaining the planter beds in medians, round-abouts, and other right-of-way areas. Mulch should not be a once every 10 years addition to a planter bed. Lets have some pride and keep our city looking like we care.
Please prioritize traffic calming and speed enforcement, especially in the vicinity of schools, pedestrian areas, and bike lanes.
